About kids'philharmonic@sg

This orchestra is a non-profitable music group organized by MusArt EduHut. It was formed during the concert of ‘Sound of Guarneri’ in 2011. Through the preparation and performance of the concert, we discovered that the youth participants had showed their strong interest and passion in classical music. Unfortunately, there are very few youth orchestra in Singapore, for them to join and performing. So we decided to form this kids'philharmonic@sg youth orchestra to meet the need of these young talents, and to be a platform for them.

The kids'philharmonic@sg now has more than 35 members, age range from 7 to 16. It also has eight instructors from MusArt EduHut. All the instructors are voluntarily teaching the members on every Sunday's practices. The conductor is Mr. Wong Kah Chun and Mr. Lee Hoon Piek.

The 'Sound of Gruaneri" concert not only inspired the formation of the kids'philharmonic@sg, but it is also this orchestra’s debut. This performance was held on 7th Dec 2011 at Esplanade Recital Studio. It was a string concert lasts for 2 hours with a great success.

Subsequently, the kids'philharmonic@sg held several small scale performances at difference places of Singapore, Such as string concert at Simei Community Centre.

Most recently, with the invitation from the People's Association Singapore, kids'philharmonic@sg joined the performance in the opening of PAssionArts Month. Together with the guest of honor, PM Lee Hsien Loong, kids’philharmonic@sg played three music pieces for the event.

The aim of this event happened to coincide with ours. Therefore, it enhanced our confidence to develop kids'phiharmonic@sg into one of the best performance platform for young musicians.
